State Trooper Involved in Fatal Crash Appears in Court

MANSFIELD, MA – A Massachusetts State Police sergeant faced a judge on Friday, more than two years after a crash led to the death of a 20-year-old man.

According to authorities, the crash occurred on April 4, 2021, on Interstate 495. The sergeant, who was reportedly off-duty at the time, was driving while impaired when he collided with a vehicle, resulting in the fatality of the other driver.

Witnesses reported seeing the vehicles involved in the incident shortly before 2:41 a.m. The State Police reported that , with medical personnel arriving to provide aid. The driver was at the scene.

As a result of the crash, the sergeant has faced charges including vehicular homicide. Authorities have confirmed that both vehicles were severely damaged, and a tow was required to clear the roadway.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, with the State Police confirming that they are cooperating fully with legal proceedings. Lane closures were in effect during the investigation, but the road has since reopened.
