Plane Crash Near Butler Claims Lives
BUTLER, MO – A plane crash occurred around 2:41 p.m. on Sunday, resulting in multiple fatalities, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP).
Emergency responders, including the Butler Fire Department and MSHP, arrived at the scene on U.S. Highway 71 near the city. Authorities confirmed that two individuals aboard the small aircraft were pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of the crash is under investigation, with federal aviation officials also responding for further assessment. The highway was temporarily closed in both directions as crews worked to secure the area and remove the wreckage.
Witnesses reported seeing the plane descend rapidly before the crash. U.S. Rep. Mark Alford issued a statement emphasizing the need for answers regarding the tragedy.
