One Dead in School Crash in Marlborough, New Hampshire

Marlborough, NH — A collision between a school bus and a pickup truck on Route 12 claimed one life on Friday, October 13, 2023, around 7 a.m.

According to New Hampshire State Police, the crash involved a northbound school bus driven by 77-year-old James French of Keene and a F-250 pickup truck driven by 74-year-old David Peloski of Swanzey. Peloski was at the scene. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause and manner of death.

The bus was carrying 13 students from Monadnock Regional Middle-High School. Witnesses reported that the students sustained minor injuries and were assessed by emergency personnel. They were transported to Cheshire Medical Center for further evaluation.

Troopers responded quickly to the scene, closing Route 12 in the area of Webb Depot Road. The road is expected to remain closed for several hours as the investigation continues. Alternate routes are advised for drivers approaching the area.

Authorities confirmed that French sustained injuries but is expected to survive. A statement from Monadnock Regional School District indicated that they are in contact with parents and providing support to students affected by the incident.
