Rehoboth Beach, DE — An 80-year-old woman and a 79-year-old man were injured on Sept. 30 after their Lexus overturned near Rehoboth Beach Plaza, according to police.
The single-car accident occurred at 12:04 p.m. when the driver of a Lexus RX350, exiting the Rehoboth Beach Plaza parking lot, rapidly accelerated, police said. The vehicle left the parking area, struck a tree in the adjacent green space, rolled over, and came to a stop.
Both occupants were trapped inside the vehicle. Personnel from the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company extricated them, and they were transported to the hospital. One was airlifted by Delaware State Police aviation, while the other was taken by ambulance for unspecified injuries. Authorities confirmed that the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
