WOOD COUNTY, W.Va. (WCHS) — A Parkersburg man was arrested Monday in connection with a fatal side-by-side crash that occurred in February 2025.

Edward McComas III, 32, faces two felony counts of driving while impaired causing death, as confirmed by the Wood County Sheriff's Office following an indictment by a grand jury.

Authorities reported that the crash took place around 2:30 a.m. on February 10, 2025, on Sams Creek Road near Paddle Run. The collision resulted in the deaths of Chloe Barre, 22, and Joseph Lowers II, 23, both residents of Parkersburg, who were at the scene.

Each charge against McComas carries a potential sentence of 3 to 15 years in prison, along with fines ranging from $1,000 to $3,000. The investigation remains ongoing as deputies continue to gather additional information.
