SARASOTA, Fla. — A single-vehicle crash on Sarasota Square Boulevard early Wednesday morning resulted in one fatality, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
At approximately 4:05 a.m. on February 18, a sedan was traveling eastbound on Sarasota Square Boulevard near Prestancla Boulevard when it veered onto the raised median, struck a tree, and subsequently caught fire. The driver, the only occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.
FHP reported that Sarasota Square Boulevard was closed in both directions between Potter Park Drive and McIntosh Road following the incident. The roadway reopened at 8 a.m. the same day.
The identity of the deceased driver has not yet been confirmed, and the crash is currently under investigation, authorities stated.
