One-Car Crash Claims Life in Chilton County
CHILTON COUNTY, AL — A one-car crash on Interstate 65 resulted in the death of a 57-year-old man on September 1 at approximately 5:30 p.m., two miles north of Clanton.
According to Alabama State Troopers, Vernon Cooper of Birmingham was driving when his vehicle left the interstate, struck an embankment, and overturned. Authorities stated that Cooper was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the car.
Emergency response teams attended the scene; however, Cooper sustained fatal injuries. The investigation into the incident is ongoing. Lane closures were reported as authorities worked to clear the site.
