BOISE, ID — A late-night crash on Interstate 84 claimed a woman's life and led to the arrest of a 29-year-old man in Boise, according to Idaho State Police.
Kevin Michael Mccannon was charged with Driving Under the Influence and Vehicular Manslaughter after the incident occurred around 1:01 a.m. Monday. Mccannon was booked shortly after the crash.
Authorities report that Mccannon was driving a white 2018 Acura TLX westbound when he rear-ended a beige 2015 Toyota Highlander, which was operated by a 31-year-old man from Chandler, Arizona. Four adult passengers were in the Toyota.
The impact caused the SUV to leave the roadway, striking concrete landscaping structures before overturning and landing back in the traffic lanes. All five occupants of the Toyota were transported to a local hospital by ground ambulance. Tragically, a 49-year-old female passenger later died at the hospital.
Emergency response teams, including local law enforcement and medical personnel, were on the scene to assist with the aftermath. The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
