LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Officer Anthony Elliott of the Louisville Metro Police Department died in a motorcycle crash on June 28 while off duty.
According to authorities, Elliott, 29, was riding on the Gene Snyder Freeway when his motorcycle collided with a semitruck. He was wearing a helmet but did not survive the accident.
Rebecca Grignon Reker, executive director of the Louisville Metro Police Foundation, noted that Elliott's loss has created a profound void within the department. “His loss is felt by all of us,” she said, emphasizing the close bonds he formed with colleagues.
Elliott, described as deeply devoted to his family, was remembered fondly as someone who was committed to ensuring the safety of others through his work. Grignon said, “He was a real mama's boy. He loved, loved his family.”
In response to his passing, the Louisville Metro Police Foundation has established the “Officer in Distress” fund to support Elliott's family during this difficult time. Donations can be made through their website.
