Marquette University lacrosse players killed in Milwaukee crash

Two Marquette University lacrosse players died in a fatal crash on Sept. 5, at approximately 5 p.m. near North 27th Street and West St. Paul Avenue, according to the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office.

Scott Michaud, 19, of Springboro, Ohio, and Noah Snyder, 20, of Irving, New York, were both involved in a two-vehicle collision that left four others injured. According to authorities, a 41-year-old driver collided with the vehicle carrying the students. The driver was arrested, with charges pending a review by the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office.

Michaud and Snyder were members of the Marquette men's lacrosse team, as confirmed by the university. Three of the injured were also student-athletes and received treatment at a local hospital.

In response to the tragedy, Marquette held a Mass for the campus community on Sept. 6. The university's Counseling Center, Campus Ministry, and Employee Assistance Program are providing around-the-clock support for students and staff. All home athletic events were canceled for that weekend.

“Grief affects each of us differently,” wrote Marquette President Dr. Kimo Ah Yun in a letter. “Please check in with your classmates, friends, colleagues, and family members as we navigate this time of sorrow together.”
