The first segment of the NASCAR All-Star Race was marred by two major crashes at Dover Motor Speedway.
The initial crash occurred on Lap 2, followed by another incident with three laps remaining, involving a total of nine cars in each event.
According to witnesses, Riley Herbst initiated the second crash by losing control of his vehicle. Christopher Bell, Kyle Busch, Chase Elliott, AJ Allmendinger, Chris Buescher, Zane Smith, John Hunter Nemechek, and Alex Bowman were caught in the aftermath.
Authorities reported that Elliott and Nemechek were involved in both incidents. Following the second crash, Elliott expressed uncertainty about his return to the race, indicating the decision would rest with his team.
Nemechek also stated he did not anticipate returning to action.
Bubba Wallace ultimately secured victory in the first 75-lap segment.
