JASPER COUNTY, Iowa — A Knoxville motorcyclist died early Wednesday morning following a crash on Highway 163.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, 31-year-old Zachariah Paul Lewis Pollock was traveling eastbound on Highway 163 between Prairie City and Monroe when his motorcycle left the roadway and overturned. Pollock was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by authorities. No additional details regarding the cause of the accident have been confirmed.
As of now, 115 individuals have died on Iowa roads in 2023, marking an increase of 12 fatalities compared to the same period in 2022. Over the past five years, an average of 337 deaths have occurred annually in statewide crashes.
