Three Confirmed Dead in Kauai Helicopter Crash
Kauai County officials confirmed Thursday night that three people died in a helicopter crash near Hanapepe.
The Airborne Aviation tour helicopter went down around 6:15 p.m. Two additional passengers were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Emergency responders from the Kauai Fire Department and the Kauai Police Department were on the scene.
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the incident. Authorities said the area remains cordoned off as responders work to recover the wreckage. Further details about the site and conditions prior to the crash are still being verified.
According to local reports, the helicopter was on a sightseeing tour when it experienced difficulties. No other injuries or damages were reported.
