Simi Valley, CA — February 9, 2023: Johnny Knoxville assured fans that a recent explosion during the filming of “Jackass: Best and Last” did not involve any plane crashes.
According to Knoxville's Instagram post, the incident occurred while filming in Simi Valley, where a spectacular explosion created by special effects supervisor Elia Popov startled onlookers. “Apparently people thought a plane had crashed yesterday,” Knoxville said, clarifying the explosion was part of the filming process.
Emergency services were not reported at the scene, and there were no injuries or fatalities confirmed. Knoxville praised Popov and the crew for the impressive special effects and noted that it marked the final day of filming for the franchise, which wraps up after 26 years.
“Jackass: Best and Last,” the fifth installment in the series, is scheduled to premiere in theaters on June 26, 2026. Knoxville emphasized that this film represents the natural conclusion of the franchise.
