Injury Reported as SUV Crashes into Howlin' Wolf Venue

SUV Crashes into The Howlin' Wolf, Injuring One

An SUV crashed into the entrance of The Howlin' Wolf, a live music venue in New Orleans, early Sunday morning, injuring one person.

According to the New Orleans Police Department, officers responded to the incident at approximately 2 a.m. at 907 S. Peters St. The collision caused part of the building's exterior wall to collapse. One person was injured and transported to the hospital; their status and whether they were the driver or a passenger remain unclear.

Owner Howie Kaplan confirmed that he coordinated with city officials to assess the building's structural integrity. Both The Howlin' Wolf and its neighboring venue, The Den, are open for business. Kaplan expressed relief that more individuals were not hurt, considering the venue had recently hosted large events with significant foot traffic.

“This isn't the first time a vehicle has struck The Howlin' Wolf, but thankfully it wasn't more catastrophic,” Kaplan stated. The police are investigating the crash and have not released further details.

Kaplan emphasized the need for improved safety measures for pedestrian-heavy areas and stressed the importance of collaboration between local venues and city officials to protect the community.

Photos from the scene show the SUV with serious damage, wedged against the venue. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
