LONDONDERRY, N.H. — Northbound lanes of Interstate 93 were briefly closed Wednesday afternoon due to a serious crash on the southbound side.

According to New Hampshire State Police, the closure was necessary to facilitate a helicopter landing at the accident scene. A vehicle had crashed in the median, ejecting one occupant who became pinned underneath.

First responders successfully extricated the individual and began administering medical care. Due to the severity of injuries, a medical helicopter was summoned, and the victim was transported to a hospital; the person's condition remains undisclosed.

The incident resulted in the closure of the interstate at mile marker 13.4, which was reopened shortly thereafter.
