I-5 Northbound Reopens After Overturned Truck Crash Near Eugene

I-5 northbound south of Eugene reopened following an overturned truck crash earlier this morning. Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) crews are still on-site, working from the shoulder to remove the spilled load and cautioning drivers to slow down and move over for their safety.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:41 p.m. on July 16, closing one lane at milepost 191.5. Authorities confirmed minimal injuries, with no fatalities reported.
According to ODOT’s Trip Check, traffic delays could last between 20 minutes and two hours. The crash site is located one mile south of the Glenwood/Downtown Springfield exit, resulting in backups extending to the 30th Avenue/South Eugene exit.
Emergency response teams including ODOT and local law enforcement coordinated the scene and managed traffic flow. Investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
