Car Crash Near Fred Meyer Leaves Two Vehicles Totaled, Four Injured
A two-car collision occurred Sunday evening near Fred Meyer, resulting in significant damage and four individuals sustaining minor injuries, according to the Juneau Police Department.
At approximately 6:30 p.m., a Dodge driven by 76-year-old Norman Nelson turned from Egan Drive to Old Dairy Road and collided with a Ford driven by an 18-year-old woman in the outbound lane, said Lt. Krag Campbell.
Nelson had one passenger while the Ford carried three passengers. All parties were transported to Bartlett Regional Hospital for treatment, with injuries deemed not serious at the time of the report. Both vehicles are presumed to be totaled.
Emergency responders closed both outbound lanes of Egan Drive for about 30 minutes to manage the scene. Nelson has been cited for failing to yield and operating a vehicle without insurance.
Authorities are conducting an investigation into the incident.
