SHIVELY, Ky. — A 13-year-old girl was killed and two others injured in a pedestrian accident on Dixie Highway on Saturday afternoon.
According to the Shively Police Department, the incident occurred around 2:41 p.m. in the 3900 block of Dixie Highway, near the Shively-Newman Library. The victims were crossing the roadway when they were struck by a vehicle.
The Jefferson County Coroner's Office identified the deceased as Muna Sheiku. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The other two victims, also teenage girls, were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and are expected to survive.
Emergency responders, including the Shively Police and local EMS, were on-site and conducted preliminary investigations following the accident. Dixie Highway was briefly closed but has since reopened.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision. No additional details about the driver or potential charges have been provided.
