Authorities Seek Public Assistance in Pitt County Investigation

PITT COUNTY, NC — Authorities are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred on Alternate Highway 264 outside of Farmville.

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, a dark-colored vehicle struck a and fled the scene on October 5 at approximately 7:30 p.m. The motorcyclist, identified as 62-year-old Robinson Babcock of Winterville, succumbed to injuries sustained in the collision.

Troopers report the suspect vehicle was last seen traveling south toward Greene County. Investigators are looking for a vehicle with significant damage, particularly on the passenger side. First Sgt. Brad Taylor with the Highway Patrol stated that there may be red paint transfer on the suspect vehicle.

“Anyone who sees something unusual or has information should call. Tips can be made anonymously,” Taylor added.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is encouraged to contact the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. The investigation is ongoing.
