A Blounts Creek man died Thursday morning in a single-vehicle crash in Beaufort County, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred around 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of Flat Swamp Road and Tuten Road. Authorities said 31-year-old Daniel Long was driving a 2022 Toyota Camry when the vehicle veered off the road, struck a ditch, and overturned, eventually coming to rest in a nearby field.
Troopers reported that Long was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities indicated that speed was a contributing factor in the crash.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation into the incident.
