Tragic Helicopter Crash Claims Lives of Massachusetts Couple in Kauai
Kauai, HI – A sightseeing helicopter crash in the ocean on Thursday afternoon resulted in the deaths of three individuals, including Massachusetts residents Margaret Rimmler, 65, and Patrick Haskell, 59, according to Kauai Police Chief Rudy Tai.
The helicopter, carrying one pilot and four passengers, crashed at approximately 2:41 p.m. Authorities confirmed two other passengers sustained injuries. Emergency services responded quickly to the scene, where recovery efforts were initiated.
Haskell, the owner of a Needham-based insurance agency, had recently retired and was traveling with Rimmler, who had a successful marketing career. Friends described them as adventurous, devoted, and cherished members of their community.
The Haskell Insurance Agency expressed condolences, stating they are “deeply saddened” by the couple's loss. “Their dedication and care for clients and the community were unwavering,” the agency stated.
While the cause of the crash remains under investigation, authorities have not released the name of the third victim involved. The families of the deceased are requesting privacy during this difficult time as they cope with their profound loss.
