AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — A fuel truck collided with the ABC 7 studios early Monday morning in a hit-and-run incident.
The crash occurred around 12:30 a.m. at the intersection of Southeast 11th Avenue and Pierce Street. According to authorities, a Dodge Ram 2500 ran a red light and was struck on the driver's side by the fuel truck, which was traveling south on Pierce. The impact pushed the pickup over the curb, breaching the station's security fence and entering the parking lot.
The fuel truck ultimately collided with a steel support beam at the northwest corner of the building. Debris from the security fence was reported to have broken a window in the studio.
Emergency responders confirmed that the fuel truck driver was unharmed. However, the driver of the Dodge Ram and two passengers exited the vehicle and fled the scene. Police have since identified the driver, who contacted his parents after the incident.
No further details about injuries or the ongoing investigation have been released, and authorities are currently working to secure the area for further assessment.
