In the Town of Buffalo, Wisconsin, four children sustained injuries Thursday afternoon when a vehicle collided with an Amish buggy. The incident occurred on County Highway O at approximately 3:44 p.m. on September 17.
Sheriff Joseph R. Konrath reported that two Amish buggies were traveling westbound on County Highway O when the lead buggy attempted to turn onto 12th Road. A vehicle traveling in the same direction attempted to pass the buggies, resulting in a strike with the lead buggy. The second buggy remained unharmed in the incident.
Four children were present in the impacted buggy, with two requiring transport to area hospitals. One child was taken via ground ambulance, while another was transported by UW Med Flight.
The driver of the vehicle initially fled the scene but was later contacted by deputies and is now cooperating with the ongoing investigation. The driver has been arrested and is being processed at the Marquette County Jail. This case is set to be reviewed by the Marquette County District Attorney's Office.
Emergency services from Marquette County EMS and Montello Fire/Rescue provided assistance at the scene of the collision.
