MARBLEHEAD, MA – A boating accident late Thursday night at State Street Landing left several injured, prompting multiple emergency responses.
Firefighters were dispatched at 11:02 p.m. after reports of the crash involving a vessel that ended up atop Grays Rock. According to the Marblehead Fire Department, five individuals were transported to local hospitals with injuries ranging from minor to serious.
Marblehead, Salem, and Beverly Harbormasters initially rescued two individuals from the water. Crews from the Marblehead Fire Department subsequently boarded a Harbormaster vessel to assess the scene, where they located additional victims outside the boat.
One individual was secured by firefighters, receiving emergency medical care while being transported back to State Street Landing. That victim was later transferred to Beauport Ambulance.
Two others sustained minor injuries and were also taken to State Street Landing for treatment. Authorities confirmed that all individuals involved in the incident had been accounted for.
Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the crash, with no updates available on the condition of the victims. The Marblehead Fire Department thanked the U.S. Coast Guard, Marblehead Police, Beauport Ambulance, and 911 dispatchers for their assistance in the coordinated response.
