Fatal shooting follows crash involving two suspects in Indianapolis.

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Two suspects from a fatal shooting were located at the scene of a separate vehicle crash, according to Indianapolis police.

At 1:52 a.m. on Saturday, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) responded to reports of a shooting in the 3300 block of Graceland Avenue, near Crown Hill Cemetery. Officers found a male, age unknown, who had been shot multiple times in the backyard. Medics transported him to Methodist Hospital, where he died from his injuries about 30 minutes later.

Another male with gunshot wounds later arrived at Eskenazi Hospital and is currently in stable condition. Authorities believe he was injured in the same shooting, as the vehicle that brought him to the hospital was traced back to the Graceland Avenue address.

Witnesses reported seeing two individuals fleeing the scene following the gunfire. While investigating the shooting, IMPD officers attended to a crash on West 21st Street, where the suspects from the crash are now believed to be connected to the shooting incident.

IMPD has secured search warrants and is actively investigating the crash site. Officials are working to determine whether the second male shot is a victim or a suspect. “It's a lot to unwind,” said IMPD Capt. John Arvin.
