3 Killed, 1 Injured in Sumter County Accident on State Route 471 near Grade Road
Sumter County, Florida (May 6, 2023) – Three people were killed and one other injured after a head-on crash early Saturday morning in Sumter County.
According to the authorities, the tragic traffic collision happened around 4:00 a.m. on State Route 471, south of Grade Road.
A 42-year-old Winter Have man was going south on State Route 471 when he crossed the lane, driving the wrong way, and collided head-on with a vehicle with three occupants inside.
Winter Haven man and a 42-year-old Lima female driver of the second car died at the scene.
A 54-year-old female passenger from Lima was transported to a hospital and declared dead.
The 47-year-old man passenger was hospitalized with severe injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
