GRAND ISLAND, Neb. — A two-vehicle accident on Highway 281 near Guenther Road resulted in one fatality on September 17, 2025, around 10:36 a.m.
According to preliminary reports, a 2021 Freightliner box truck operated by 35-year-old Adrian Sanchez Rios of Grand Island lost control while heading north. The truck crossed the median and collided with a southbound 2017 Chevrolet pickup on the driver's side.
The driver of the Chevrolet pickup, whose identity has not yet been confirmed, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities stated that an accident reconstruction team has been called to assist in the ongoing investigation. An autopsy will also be conducted.
