SHEPHERD, Mont. — One person was killed in a motorcycle crash on U.S. Highway 312 Sunday afternoon.
The incident occurred around 3:15 p.m. near Shining Mountain Drive, according to the Montana Highway Patrol. A 69-year-old Billings man was riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle when he slowed to turn into a nearby business.
Authorities reported that a 25-year-old woman from Billings, driving a Subaru Impreza with a 3-year-old girl as a passenger, rear-ended the motorcycle. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver and child were transported to the hospital as a precaution.
Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Derek White noted that alcohol is suspected to be a contributing factor, and the rider was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
Update 8:45 a.m. Sept. 15: The deceased has been identified as the 69-year-old man from Billings. The crash remains under investigation, with no further details provided.
