Fatal Crash Under Investigation in Salters
SALTERS, SC — The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on August 9, 2025, around 11:25 p.m. on Mackey Road, near Gibson Road.
Authorities reported that Katlyn Rice, 28, of North Charleston, was driving south on Mackey Road when her 2004 Ford SUV veered off the right side of the road and overturned.
Emergency response teams arrived at the scene shortly after the incident. The crash resulted in confirmed fatalities. Investigators are currently working to determine the cause of the accident. Further details regarding road conditions and other contributing factors have not yet been released.
