Coventry Police Investigate Fatal Crash Involving Home
COVENTRY, RI – A man died after crashing his vehicle into a house on Main Street shortly after 2:41 p.m. on March 4.
Authorities identified the driver as 50-year-old Derek Decosta of Pawtucket. He was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
According to police, Decosta had forced three individuals into his vehicle prior to the incident. Officers managed to stop the car, allowing all three victims to exit safely. Subsequently, Decosta reversed into a police cruiser and fled the scene.
Authorities later found Decosta's vehicle after it struck a residence, resulting in significant damage and impacting parked cars in the driveway.
The investigation remains ongoing, and police have not disclosed the victims' relationship to Decosta. No additional injuries have been reported.
