Everett Turnpike Closed at Bedford Toll Plaza Following Vehicle Fire
BEDFORD, NH—The Everett Turnpike north is closed at the Bedford Toll Plaza after a vehicle crash and subsequent fire on Tuesday around noon.
According to New Hampshire State Police, a vehicle struck the toll plaza and became fully engulfed in flames. Authorities confirmed the driver sustained serious injuries and was rescued by witnesses, including a state trooper assigned to Governor Kelly Ayotte's security detail.
Emergency responders from local fire and police departments quickly arrived on the scene. Traffic is being diverted off Exit 13, with lane closures expected while crews manage the situation.
An ongoing investigation into the circumstances of the crash has been initiated. This incident marks the second crash at the Bedford Toll Plaza within three days. Just days prior, a separate crash involving a Massachusetts driver led to the arrest for driving while intoxicated.
Residents are advised to seek alternate routes to avoid delays.
