Dump Truck Hits Bridge on I-20 in Rankin County
RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. — A dump truck collided with a bridge on Interstate 20, causing significant damage early Monday morning.
The incident occurred around 6 a.m. near the East Brandon exit. According to the Mississippi Department of Transportation, a contract dump truck driver was conducting paving work when the vehicle struck the bridge at a speed of 70 mph.
As a result of the crash, one eastbound lane was temporarily closed while emergency crews responded. The interstate has since reopened, and orange barrels have been placed on the bridge to obstruct the damaged area.
No injuries were reported in connection with the incident. Authorities continue to assess the bridge and the cause of the crash.
