Ellendale Man Arrested on Gun and DUI Charges Following Crash
An Ellendale man was arrested on July 1 following a crash in Harbeson that involved multiple parked vehicles.
Authorities said James Fisher, 33, was driving a Ford F-750 truck southbound on Harbeson Road, north of Route 9, when he veered off the road and struck several parked cars around 8:35 a.m. Following the incident, police observed Fisher removing a bag from the truck and concealing it behind a tree.
Delaware State Police troopers arrived at the scene and noted multiple signs of impairment. They conducted field sobriety tests on Fisher and located the hidden bag, which reportedly contained several stolen firearms, ammunition, and ballistic vests. Fisher sustained minor injuries from the crash but declined medical transport.
Fisher, who is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition due to prior convictions, was arrested and taken to Troop 7. He faces multiple charges, including four counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, as well as DUI and other traffic violations. Fisher was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and is held at Sussex Correctional Institution on a secured bond of $25,530.
The investigation is ongoing.
