STOUGHTON, Mass. —
A two-car crash early Wednesday morning in Stoughton, Massachusetts, resulted in one death and multiple injuries, according to authorities.
Emergency responders were dispatched at approximately 6:15 a.m. to Turnpike Street (Route 139) for a collision involving a Cadillac with two occupants and a Toyota Highlander driven by a Quincy woman.
All three individuals were transported to Boston Medical Center. Michael Unman, 59, of Mint Hill, North Carolina, the driver of the Cadillac, was pronounced dead upon arrival. His passenger, a man from Pennsylvania, sustained serious injuries.
The driver of the Toyota, who had been returning home from an overnight shift at a local hotel, regained consciousness following the incident, according to police.
The roadway remained closed for several hours while crews cleared debris and wires from a damaged telephone pole. Both vehicles were towed to a secure facility.
Authorities stated that the investigation is ongoing. Initial reports mistakenly identified Unman as a Pennsylvania resident.
