SOMERS — A fatal crash occurred over the weekend in Flathead County, leaving one man dead and the driver fled the scene, according to the Montana Highway Patrol.

The incident took place Saturday near the intersection of Buffalo Trail and Running Bison Lane. Authorities reported the driver was heading northbound when they lost control on a left-hand curve, causing the Silverado to exit the roadway and overturn down an embankment.

The vehicle ultimately collided with trees, with the crash estimated to have happened several hours before being reported. The passenger, a 34-year-old man from Bozeman, was at the scene.

Witnesses indicated the driver absconded from the site, leaving the victim behind. Authorities are currently seeking updates on the driver's whereabouts.

Preliminary findings by the Montana Highway Patrol suggest that alcohol, drugs, and speed may have contributed to the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
