GREAT FALLS — An elderly woman died in a two-vehicle crash in Teton County on Saturday, April 12, 2025.
The collision occurred shortly after 2 p.m. at the intersection of US Highway 89 (1st Road SE) and State Highway 431/565 (3rd Lane), approximately four miles east/southeast of Fairfield, according to the Montana Highway Patrol (MHP).
The crash involved a Dodge Caravan driven by an 88-year-old woman from Hamilton and a Chevrolet Silverado driven by an 18-year-old man from Great Falls. No passengers were in either vehicle.
According to MHP, the Dodge was stopped at the intersection and began traveling northbound when it was struck by the eastbound Chevy. The Dodge spun and remained on the roadway, while the Chevy veered off the left side and entered a ditch.
The driver of the Dodge was transported to Benefis Health System in Great Falls, where she succumbed to her injuries. Her identity has not yet been released.
The driver of the Chevrolet suffered no serious injuries, and both were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. Authorities stated that impaired driving is not suspected.
The MHP has not confirmed if the driver of the Chevy will face any charges related to the incident.
