FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — A driver was killed in a solo car crash on Kearney Avenue after 5 p.m. on Saturday.
California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to the scene near Kearney Avenue west of Dickenson. According to authorities, a Chevy Malibu was traveling westbound at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control and veered off the roadway.
The vehicle collided with a palm tree, resulting in the driver being ejected. Emergency medical personnel attempted life-saving measures, but the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
CHP reports that alcohol may have contributed to the incident. The investigation is ongoing, and further details are forthcoming. No lane closures were reported.
