ROGER MILLS Co. — A 19-year-old passenger from Georgia died in a crash early Sunday morning on State Highway 283, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred around 4 a.m. when 20-year-old driver Jessie Cunningham of Cheyenne swerved to avoid a deer, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway. The car traveled nearly 500 feet in a ditch before striking a tree on the passenger side.
Passenger Raneil Joran Reid, 19, of Duluth, Georgia, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Five other occupants were also present, and authorities noted that seatbelts were not used by all passengers.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
