OKLAHOMA CITY (KOKH) — UPDATE: Authorities have arrested 25-year-old John Michael Chavez on charges of second-degree murder, leaving the scene of a fatal accident, and aggravated DUI.
ORIGINAL STORY: Authorities are investigating a deadly hit-and-run crash in Oklahoma City.
At approximately 2 a.m. on Monday, emergency crews responded to a collision in the 4200 block of NW Expressway, near Meridian Ave. Upon arrival, first responders found a woman riding an electric scooter westbound in the outside lane when she was struck by a vehicle.
Officials stated the scooter lacked any lights at the time of the incident. After the collision, the driver fled the scene.
The woman was pronounced dead at the site from her injuries. Her identity has not yet been released. The Oklahoma City Police Department is actively searching for the driver involved.
