One person has been arrested following a deadly crash in Oklahoma City on June 29.

Authorities reported that an Oklahoma City Police Department officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle that failed to stop at a stop sign in the 3100 block of N. I-35 Service Road. The vehicle also had a defective front headlight due to an earlier collision.

While officers conducted the traffic stop, citizens alerted them to two individuals lying in the roadway, reportedly struck by the vehicle. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, located near I-35 and N.E. 36th St., and found the two victims.

One victim was at the scene, and the other was transported to a nearby hospital with two broken femurs and bruised lungs.

Officers arrested 28-year-old Sterling Morales on multiple charges, including second-degree murder, leaving the scene of an accident with a fatality, and aggravated DUI. The investigation is ongoing.
