LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A crash on West Oakey Boulevard left one motorcyclist dead and resulted in DUI-related charges for a driver.
According to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police, the incident occurred Tuesday afternoon before 4 p.m. when a 2020 Kia Telluride, a 2025 Harley-Davidson Road Glide, and a 2016 Jeep Renegade were traveling eastbound.
Police report that the Kia and Harley-Davidson halted for traffic when the Jeep, driven by 64-year-old Waymon Wells, allegedly failed to reduce speed, colliding with the rear of the Harley-Davidson. The motorcycle and its rider were projected southeast; the rider was ejected from the vehicle.
The 46-year-old motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Kia sustained minor injuries, along with one of the vehicle's juvenile passengers.
Wells remained at the scene and showed signs of impairment, leading to his arrest on DUI-related charges. This incident marks the 36th traffic-related fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's jurisdiction in 2026.
The crash is under investigation by the LVMPD Collision Investigation Section.
