DeKalb Woman Dies in Interstate 57 Crash; Three Injured

ASHKUM — A DeKalb woman died in a two-vehicle accident on Interstate 57 in Iroquois County on Wednesday morning.

According to the Iroquois County Coroner, Shirley J. Davis, 48, was at the scene at 9:15 a.m. An autopsy is pending.

Officials from District 21 Illinois State Police reported that Davis' 1996 Taurus was stationary in the passing lane when it was struck from behind by a 2009 Honda Odyssey driven by Daniel Nosek, 56, of Lombard. Nosek stated he did not see the stopped vehicle.

Davis' daughter, Lacriessa Mosley, 22, was riding in the front passenger seat. Two children, ages 2 and 5 months, occupied the back seat. According to authorities, Mosley was transported to Riverside Hospital in Kankakee, while the two children were taken to another hospital with unspecified injuries. Nosek was treated for minor injuries at St. Mary's Hospital in Kankakee.

The incident occurred at approximately 8:18 a.m. in the southbound lanes of I-57 at milepost 290. The roadway was closed for about three hours as emergency crews responded to the scene. An investigation is ongoing.
