MARTIN COUNTY, Fla. — Taylor Cantin returned to Martin County Fire Rescue over the weekend to thank first responders who helped him after a serious collision on July 5.
Cantin, a 33-year-old from Indiantown, was involved in a head-on crash on State Road 710 near Southwest Silver Fox Lane around 2 a.m. The collision involved his Toyota Tundra and a Kia Optima. The driver of the Kia, a 40-year-old man, died at the scene.
According to Martin County Fire Rescue, crews from Station 24 extricated Cantin from the vehicle. A LifeStar medical helicopter transported him to a local hospital for treatment of traumatic injuries.
While rescue teams typically do not hear from the patients they assist, Cantin expressed his gratitude after seeing a flyer for an open house event at Station 24. His reunion with the team allowed them to connect beyond the emergency response.
Authorities emphasized the importance of community connections and the impact of their work, noting Cantin's visit was a significant reminder of their mission.
