RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. — A woman was arrested after crashing her SUV following a police pursuit around 1 p.m. on Lakeland Drive.
Deputies responded to a domestic dispute on Glendale Place and were informed that Latoya Fortune had left the scene in a maroon Nissan Rogue. They located the vehicle, but Fortune fled south toward Flowood.
After several miles, deputies attempted to stop Fortune near Dogwood Festival, but she accelerated again, according to Investigator Tyler Burnell. The Flowood Police Department then executed a tactical driving maneuver on Lakeland Drive near Howard Wilson Lane, causing Fortune's vehicle to roll over and stop in the right median.
Fortune was extricated from the SUV and evaluated by medical personnel before being taken to the Rankin County Detention Center. She faces charges of felony fleeing, with additional charges anticipated, according to authorities.
