Title: Dallas Police Investigate 18-Wheeler Crash Leaving Driver Seriously Injured
DALLAS – An 18-wheeler is under investigation following a crash on S. Cockrell Hill Rd that resulted in a driver losing part of his arm.
According to the Dallas Police Department (DPD), the incident occurred around 6 a.m. on Tuesday, August 19. The truck, traveling northbound in the 5300 block, allegedly struck another vehicle before leaving the scene.
The injured driver, identified as Carlos Campos, 26, reported that he was driving home with his windows down when the collision occurred. He claims the truck swerved into his SUV, leading to the amputation of his left arm.
In response, DPD released a photo of the truck featuring a distinctive Dallas Cowboys star to aid in identification. Following media coverage, the truck's owner contacted authorities, asserting that his driver did not hit Campos's vehicle.
The owner, wishing to remain anonymous and referred to as “Enrique,” reported receiving threatening calls. He provided DPD with surveillance footage suggesting that his truck was traveling at a moderate speed and that Campos's SUV was speeding before the crash.
Enrique stated that investigators found white paint from the SUV on the truck's trailer. DPD has confirmed receipt of the surveillance videos and continues its investigation into the incident.
As of Thursday afternoon, Campos maintains that the truck was at fault. DPD officials have not released further details regarding any potential charges or citations.
