Fatal Plane Crash in Butler Identified Two Victims
BUTLER, MO – Two victims of a fatal plane crash in Butler were identified on Thursday, according to Bates County Coroner Jerret J. Reno.
The crash occurred around 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday near an airport located south of the city. Authorities reported that a single-engine aircraft went down shortly after takeoff, resulting in severe damage.
Emergency responders, including local fire and police departments, arrived at the scene to assist. Medical personnel confirmed that both occupants of the aircraft were pronounced dead at the site. The identities of the victims were established through a provided manifest and notifications to next of kin.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is conducting an investigation into the cause of the crash. As a result, the area surrounding the airport remains cordoned off, and further details are pending.
