LA PUENTE, Calif. – Two California Highway Patrol cruisers crashed into a front yard following a high-speed chase involving a motorcyclist on Saturday.
The incident began at approximately 4:40 p.m. on the 10 Freeway at Grand Avenue in West Covina, where authorities attempted to stop a speeding motorcyclist. The pursuit continued off the freeway and into La Puente, according to CHP Officer Stephen Brandt.
Shortly thereafter, the two CHP vehicles collided at the intersection of Hacienda Boulevard and Ector Street. The motorcyclist reportedly crashed into a blue four-door vehicle, which subsequently struck a fire hydrant and a stop sign. Both CHP cruisers went through a yard at a nearby residence.
The motorcyclist managed to flee the scene but was apprehended a short time later on Nantes Avenue in La Puente, according to authorities. No serious injuries were reported from the incident, and emergency response teams were dispatched to the scene for assistance.
The investigation into the pursuit and crash is ongoing.
