Lake Pontchartrain Causeway Reopens Following Rush-Hour Accident
The northbound lanes of the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway reopened Friday afternoon after a five-car accident closed the bridge for approximately 90 minutes.
According to Causeway General Manager Carlton Dufrechou, the accident occurred around 4 p.m. and involved the overturning of one vehicle. Multiple emergency response units were dispatched to the scene.
Authorities reported three individuals sustained injuries; however, the full extent of those injuries remains unknown. Dufrechou confirmed that none of the injuries are life-threatening.
No additional details regarding the cause of the accident have been disclosed, and an investigation is ongoing.
