Man dies after van plunges off bridge in Maine.

BRUNSWICK, ME — A Sebago man died after his van plunged off a bridge in Brunswick on Monday.

According to authorities, the incident occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m. on the Canal Bridge along Route 1. The 54-year-old driver lost control of his vehicle, which subsequently fell approximately 30 feet into the water below. Emergency responders arrived promptly on the scene, but the man was shortly thereafter.

Local fire and rescue teams, along with the Brunswick Police Department, executed a recovery operation. The van was removed from the water shortly after 4 p.m. The crash led to temporary lane closures on Route 1, which have since been lifted.

The incident is currently under investigation. No other vehicles were involved, and no additional injuries were reported. Further details, including the cause of the crash, are pending investigation results.
